Through an ongoing exploration of mythology, care, and satire, my work merges personal histories with collective memory; a symbiotic relation grounded in spirit, ancestral memory and textured layers of what it means to be human. The Girl With a Pearl Earring

The Girl With a Pearl Earring is a reimagining of a classic portrait, featuring a young Black woman in profile. I came across this image on a far-right site where it was used negatively. Reclaiming it involved drawing the portrait over a postage stamp, emphasising coloniality rendered in several layers.
